Merelani

Merelani (aka Mererani) near Mount Kilimanjaro is the home to tanzanite, discovered only in the 1960s.  I visited the mining region after summiting Kili and was surprised to find how tightly packed the mines are -- one after the next of artisan plots -- in an exceptionally small region. This well matched pair is set in 18k white gold with a thin 'crest' of metal though the centre of the earrings.
