Material Sourcing and Trademarking

stack of five square gold rings that mimic mountains.

All pieces are stamped with Disegno's trademark, which is shown either as the full name disegno or by a stylized 'D' shaped like a bullet. Often these stamps are tucked away (such as inside a bail) for visual cleanliness.

All Disegno gems are natural; Disegno never uses synthetic gems, nor simulants.  Disegno rarely -- rarely! -- uses treated gems, however any gem treatments other than heat treatment will be disclosed.  Please understand that some gems are routinely heat-treated (virtually all tanzanites are; virtually all garnets are not) and that heat is accepted by the trade as a treatment not requiring disclosure. It is a permanent treatment done to improve colour and clarity. Contact Disegno for more details.

Disegno prefers fine Canadian ethical diamonds whenever possible. The provenance of non-Canadian diamonds can not be confirmed. Disegno prefers diamonds accompanied by a certificate from a recognized gemological laboratory, such as GIA, that confirms: "The diamonds herein described or contained in the jewellery herein described have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions. The seller hereby guarantees that these diamonds are natural, non-treated, unenhanced and conflict free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds." Small accents diamonds are usually not accompanied by certification.

Precious metals are provided by Disegno's preferred casting company in Montreal, Canada. The provenance of the metal is typically from a variety of sources, but primarily recycled materials.

'Argentium'® 'the finest silver', are trademarks of the Argentium Silver Guild (UK), which guarantees traceability of its raw silver.  It certifies that Argentium is produced using only recycled silver.
