The Ottawa Citizen, January 2010
"A Little Gem of a Store: Everything glitters and glows at Pamela Coulston's little gem of a store in the Glebe. Coulston, a jewelry designer who trained in California, has made a name for herself in custom design, including wedding and engagement rings and redesigning people's jewelry. (Several of her pieces are shown below.) The former freelance writer promises a sparkling good time at her boutique, Disegno Fine Jewellery, especially over the next week during her annual sale. Disegno features three different lines: 18k-gold pieces with gemstones, bold urban designs, including bangles, rings and earrings in solid sterling silver and Canadian animals and icons such as polar bears and Inukshuks. "I like to design pieces that are wonderful to caress, to play with or to fiddle with like a worry stone," Coulston says. "I have a staff of some of the finest goldsmiths in the region who work for me creating my pieces." Coulston previously worked in international development as a consultant for UNICEF and CIDA. While she was based in Rwanda in the late 1980s, she realized she wanted to design jewelry full-time. In 1991, she studied gemology in California and is currently working toward becoming a certified professional gemologist."
Where Ottawa August 2008
Once again, Where Ottawa highlights Disegno. Here's what they had to say: A FINE THING Jewellery junkies will find only the best at Disegno Fine Jewellery. Owner and designer Pamela Coulston's exquisite creations possess an amazing quality and weight that few other jewellers can match. These stunning rings were inspired by the work of glass artist Dale Chihuly, whose work—including a chandelier at the Hilton Lac Leamy in Gatineau—can be found all over the world. Shown: the small waterlilly ($750) and large waterlilly ($790) are made of sterling silver, rimmed with solid 18k gold, and set with a freshwater pearl, while the Chihuly ($690) is fabricated from sterling silver and set with a freshwater pearl. 103 Fourth Ave., second floor. 613-482-1614. www.disegnojewellery.ca

Wedding Obsession
Melissa Lui who runs a dynamic site for 'all things wedding' at Wedding Obsession, had great things to say about Disegno in spring 2009. "Looking for jewelry that is one-of-a-kind? I’m excited to share with you a Canadian designer who specializes in custom 18K designed jewelry. Pamela over at Disegno Fine Jewellery works with her clients who are often looking for unique engagement rings and wedding bands that best match their style. Her styles have graced Canadian singer Feist and crooner Michael Buble (all time fave of mine and many of you, I’m sure!). Do check out her site, as her styles are unique and engaging. She sounds like she really goes out of her way to create a piece you & your beau will enjoy for years to come. Disegno’s based in Ottawa but she has created pieces for people all over the world." Ottawa At Home
I caught the eye of Ottawa at Home for their December 2008 issue; here's what they had to say: "Pamela Coulston meshes her love of architecture with an eye for the unusual in each stunning piece of Disegno Jewellery she handcrafts. Her big, bold designs in silver and gold, some with semi-precious and precious stones, are visually stunning as well as being tactile and playful. Pamela offers a unique way for discerning women to express their personal sense of style."
The Carrot Box
As blogged on the Carrot Box, Tuesday, November 15, 2005: Quebec-based jeweller Pamela Coulston of Disegno Jewellery creates some very interesting rings like the "vertebrae" ring pictured here! What a cool piece for a chiropractor, doctor, or pretty much anybody who owns a spine. 18k white gold with yellow gold ridges. Be sure to go through all the pages of her collections.
